University Avenue Vehicle Recycling specializes in environmentally responsible end-of-life vehicle (ELV) processing. These steps are required to safely convert a junked automobile into reusable metal scrap.

Using special equipment, all fluids are drained: fuel, oils, brake fluid, antifreeze. The battery, radiator, mercury switches and other selected components are removed for separate recycling.

The body is then crushed and prepared for further processing, most commonly by shredding. Modern shredders are able to recover for direct recycling more than 80% of the original materials.
